One Step Closer Towards BECCS at Igelsta

During the 2021-2022 winter season, Biorecro led a feasibility study for a BECCS facility at the Igelsta CHP-plant in Södertälje. The promising results led the Swedish Energy Agency to grant Biorecro funding to continue developing the project. Together with the heat and power company, Söderenergi,  Biorecro will further build planns for BECCS at the Igelsta plant.

“It is good news for the climate and for Sweden’s future competitiveness that we now have the opportunity to take another step towards producing negative emissions at Igelsta”, says Henrik Karlsson, CEO of Biorecro.

In phase two of the project The Port of Södertälje will join as a project partner to investigate the possibility of using the port’s land and area for the BECCS facility.

In addition, the project group is strengthened by influencer bureau KLIMPO who will participate in the extensive communication work planned.

Biorecro will lead phase two of the project, starting in September 2021 and finishing in December 2022.
